Alesha Dixon attracts complaints from Strictly viewers
21/09/2009
New Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon has attracted nearly 300 complaints from angry viewers after her appearance on the first episode of the series. However, the 30-year-old former winner of the BBC One show has hit back at her critics, vowing not to quit the programme as it is "not in her nature". She told the Daily Mirror: "We are just starting on a long road and I know I can help make the path smoother for some of the celebs. You can't please all of the people all of the time." Alesha was the centre of controversy earlier this year when it was announced she was being brought in to replace veteran judge Arlene Phillips, 66, sparking accusations of ageism. Fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood has also spoken out in defence of Ms Dixon, telling the BBC's Breakfast programme that she deserves to be given a chance.
