Bernie Nolan 'vows to beat breast cancer'

Singer and actress Bernie Nolan has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The 49-year-old is now facing a mastectomy and chemotherapy because the disease is spreading. Best known as a member of 1970s girl group The Nolans, the star had hits with I'm in the Mood for Dancing and Don't Make Waves. She has also starred on shows such as Brookside and on reality TV show Pop Star to Opera Star. Two of her sisters, Anne and Linda Nolan, have also had breast cancer. Bernie has pledged to fight the disease, telling the News of the World: "I'm fighting this. I'm going to kick its ass. Take one breast, take them both, I don't care. "I'm strong and I'm not going to let this defeat me. I'm going to see my daughter grow up and I'll fight it with everything I have."
