Eastenders live episode to be broadcastLondon soap Eastenders is to broadcast a live episode next year to mark the 25th anniversary of the show.

The BBC1 soap will run its first ever live episode on February 19th 2010 to crown a week of special shows to celebrate the quarter-century milestone for Albert Square and its residents.

Plot details have not yet been confirmed by the BBC but the show's producers promise "high drama and excitement" for the 30-minute episode.

EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer: "Every time I think about this episode I get excited as well as a little nervous.

"It's a big test for every member of the production here, and hopefully a big treat for the audience."

The fictional town of Walford will also be welcoming a very special guest to the square later in the autumn as London mayor Boris Johnson will be appearing on the show.

Mr Johnson will enter the Queen Vic to face a telling off from Peggy Mitchell.
