Gardeners' World to go back to roots
13/01/2010
With audiences dipping below two million for the first time last year, Gardeners' World is set to go back to its old 30 minute format, BBC bosses have said.
Long-term viewers had accused the BBC Two show of abandoning them in favour of trying to win over viewers who were new to the garden during the last series.
Programme bosses now admit they made mistakes and will return to satisfying their "core" audience.
According to executive producer Gill Tierney, they plan on a "refocus" of the format.
Speaking to the Radio Times, she said: "We have listened to the audience and have taken the criticism on the chin which is why we are making the changes we are making. We are simply going to refocus to satisfy the needs of our core audience."
Last week, Horticulture Week reported that Carol Klein, one of the Gardeners' World presenters, is launching a new book called Grow Your Own Garden.
