Steve Groves wins Masterchef the Professionals
23/10/2009
Essex boy Steve Groves has scooped first prize in BBC Two's Masterchef the Professionals.
The 28-year-old fought against tough competitors Marianne Lumb and Daniel Graham in the final, but it was his three-course meal that impressed judges Greg Wallace and Michel Roux Jr the most.
Groves now wants to pursue his dream of becoming a top chef and one day dreams to own his own restaurant producing great British food.
His winning menu consisted of a roast quail and scotch egg starter, followed by a main course of venison loin with potato rosti, watercress puree and roasted beetroot.
To round off his meal, he served a dessert of millefeuille of raspberries and bitter chocolate with lavender and honey ice cream.
Competition judge Roux followed in the footsteps of his father Michel Roux and is head chef at London restaurant Le Gavroche and boasts two coveted Michelin stars to his name.
