TV shows sees chefs source food and drink from local gardens
07/04/2010
Chefs taking part in this year's Great British Menu have been seeking out garden bargains close to National Trust Properties. The BBC TV show, which kicked off last night (April 6th), follows 24 chefs from around the UK who have to unearth produce from farms, gardens and neighbourhoods surrounding their local National Trust house or countryside location and cook a meal fit for a Prince, literally. As the show processes eight regional chefs will be chosen, who will then have to create a magnificent fit for the finale banquet. Finally one chef will cook a meal for the Prince of Wales, his wife the Duchess of Cornwall, and 100 other important guests. Beccy Speight, the National Trust's local food champion, said: "It's wonderful to see sustainable, locally-produced quality food being championed by programmes like Great British Menu." Last night's show saw chefs cook pigeon and lobster from Scotland. Make the most of your garden with our gardening deals. Posted by Jez Walters. ![]() |
