Are you guilty of neglecting your health?
29/07/2010
Most of us will admit that we don't do enough exercise or indulge in a takeaway curry a bit too often. In fact, recent research by Scottish Widows found that 35 per cent of people are worried they are neglecting their health more than any other area of their life. As well as this, 45 per cent of those surveyed confessed that they don't put as much emphasis on keeping fit as they feel they should. But, you shouldn't feel too bad if you think you're not doing enough exercise, Joanna Hall, a diet and movement specialist, said. She suggested that part of the reason why people feel so guilty is because they set unrealistic standards for themselves. "Many people then feel guilty or worried that they haven't exercised and in turn create what I call 'a template of failure', setting unrealistic goals that they can't meet." "If we each walked with good technique for 20 minutes a day, from walking into work or getting off the bus a stop early, or walking to the shops et cetera, we would notice a real difference in our health, fitness, weight loss, overall wellbeing and posture. It can also be anti-ageing," she added. So, it might be time to pull on those walking boots! Posted by Jez Walters ![]() |
