Consumers 'now opting' for liposculpture
25/01/2010
People are increasingly opting to have liposculpture on small problem areas of fat rather than traditional liposuction, The Hospital Group has claimed. The group said it has removed 9,193 pints of fat in operations in the UK over the past five years, with people in the West Midlands having the most removed. Mario Russo, medical director at the cosmetic surgery providers, said: "The market and business and demands of the patients are moving very much towards localised [liposuction] now, and therefore the main requests are more for minor areas and more for sculpting one or a few areas at a time." Mr Russo added that these procedures were "nothing compared to the very extensive liposuction we used to do in the past". The people most likely to benefit from liposuction are those who have already lost weight through a healthy diet and wanted to target small, concentrated areas of fat, he noted.
