Curvy people get a better night's sleep, say scientists
29/10/2009
Curvy people toss and turn less while sleeping compared to their thinner friends, new research has revealed. The scientist at Silentnight, who conducted the study over two years, found that pressure points are what make a person toss and turn. A female weighting eight stone and a male weighing 15 stone were used in the research to pinpoint areas where there are pressure. The results revealed that lighter people suffer more from pressure points, especially when they sleep on their side, compared a curvier person. As pressure builds up, circulation becomes poorer, with the body reacting by turning to relieve the stress. Fleshier people tend to roll over only twice a night, compared to a thin person's ten. Iftikhar Mirza, sleep scientist at Silentnight, said: "Curvy men and women all over should be feeling pretty happy right now. Our survey shows they rate highly in the passion stakes, and science shows they're better behaved in bed too the perfect partner!" It seems even airlines want us to have a good night's sleep Air New Zealand could be offering passengers seat-beds by late 2010, according to Flight Global. Looking to win a bed?
