Decrease food and drink intake to lose weight, BDA says
11/12/2009
Those planning to lose weight in the New Year need to commit to a change of lifestyle, according to the British Dietetic Association (BDA). Ladan Hajihassani, a dietician at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and member of the BDA, said people need to think about permanent changes. "There are a few ways of dealing with it eating less, or doing more, but the best way obviously is eating less and moving more," she advised. Ms Hajihassani went on to say that snacking could be part of a successful diet, "as long as you choose healthier snacks like fruit". She also recommended snacking on sensible portions of vegetable crudites, dry fruit and nuts. Earlier this year, the BDA said that it was important to try to eat small regular meals and snacks. According to a recent survey by Herbalife, ladies who slim down for the festive season in time for Christmas parties on average go on to regain seven pounds over the season.
