Expensive moisturisers are 'generally better'

26/08/2009

Expensive moisturisers are 'generally better'When it comes to moisturisers, it may be worth paying that little bit more according to a leading cosmetic dermatology lecturer.

Dr Mario Luca Russo said that more money is spent on researching more expensive products and often the ingredients also cost more than cheaper alternatives.

"Expensive brands are commonly seen to be better than more affordable products because they generally are better products," he said.

He added that people should use products that incorporate a sun protection factor and ingredients such as anti-oxidants to help repair the skin.

"Proper education about how people should look after their skin is extremely important, perhaps this could be incorporated into a high school class," he concluded.

Recent figures released by Mintel have shown that despite the ongoing recession, the majority of women in the UK, France and the US have not changed their beauty buying habits.
