Gadget helps guarantee a good night's sleep
20/11/2009
A young inventor has come up with a gadget which aims to help ward off insomnia and give people a better night's sleep. Twenty-five-year-old Kate Evans dreamed up the Light-Sleeper when she herself was struggling with sleepless nights as a student. It works by moving a soothing blue light across the bedroom ceiling and as people's eyes follow the beam they start to relax and drift off to sleep. Kate told the Mirror: "I used to suffer from insomnia and sleep only three hours a night.
"I was shocked to find how many people have such problems and how big the market is for sleeping pills. There was a big need for an alternative."
Initial trials of the device were so successful, it is being considered by the NHS. According to the Sleep Council, only one in ten people say they always sleep well, while one in five suffer from lack of sleep. Looking to win a bed? Don't miss your chance and enter our prize draw now!
