People turning to plastic surgery to 'improve job prospects'

21/04/2010

People turning to plastic surgery to 'improve job prospects'One in ten people in the UK would have cosmetic surgery in order to boost their job prospects, a new survey has revealed.

According to research by online cosmetic surgery service and chatshow MyFaceMyBody, people in the UK are increasingly willing to try plastic surgery in order to help their careers.

Some five per cent of the 620 people questioned have already turned to cosmetic surgery, admitting to having procedures ranging from teeth whitening to having filler injections in their feet to make wearing high heels for long periods more comfortable.

Paul Collins, editor of Looking Good BuyAssociation, said cosmetic surgery was becoming more mainstream.

"It is not hugely surprising that people now think some minor cosmetic procedures will enhance their career prospects – and in many cases the effects would be both on the individual's appearance and their self-confidence as a result of improved self-image."

Figures released today (April 21st) revealed that unemployment has reached its highest level since 1996.
