Time to start autumn skincare regime, says expert
02/09/2009
With the cold weather fast approaching, many women will be thinking about starting their autumn skincare regime. But for women over 50, special care is needed to help protect against the harsh elements of the season that can speed up the appearance of fine lines, according to leading beauty writer Zara Rabinowicz. "When you age your collagen production slows down and you start turning over new skin cells more slowly, leading to drier, less fresh-looking skin," she said. Ms Rabinowicz recommended that older women use a daily sun protection factor and invest in intensive hand cream and a targeted cream for the delicate eye area, which can be applied morning and night. "As with so much in beauty, how your skin appears is directly linked to how well you treat your body - so keep drinking water, as a hydrated body will give you a head start in your battle with the elements," she added. A recent survey from consumer group Which? found that it is not always the most expensive beauty products that are the most effective. In tests, it found that the Simple Kind to Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser, which costs £3.21 outperformed the £47 StriVectin-SD product. Win Spa breaks and indulge yourself ![]() |
