Voters 'losing sleep over election'

05/05/2010

Voters 'losing sleep over election'In spite of a comfortable bed, one in three Bits are lying awake worrying over who to vote for on Thursday (May 6th), a new survey has found.

The poll of 5,000 adults by Travelodge found that 36 per cent are stressed over who to vote for, the Scotsman reported.

According to the research, more men than women were losing sleep, with four out of ten men terrified they may vote for the wrong political leader.

The main concern is which leader will be best equipped to rebuild the UK's fragile economy.

Psychologist Corinne Sweet said: "It's not surprising 36 per cent of Brits are having sleepless nights about this week's General Election, as fear of change and money worries are key factors that fuel insomnia."

"The imminent political upheaval is certainly affecting people's ability to sleep," she added.

Last month, a article in the Irish Times said spending sufficient time in a comfortable bed each night is important for a person's general health.
