Average Brits sleep 6 hours a night
01/06/2010
The average Briton spends just six hours and 21 minutes asleep in bed each night, according to research from Travelodge.Despite it being recommended that people get at least eight hours sleep a night, money worries, stress and noise are all keeping people awake for longer, the hotel chain's Sleep Index highlighted. The index also highlighted that people feel their lack of sleep is affecting their everyday lives, with 47 per cent of respondents saying they take longer to complete tasks when tired. Stevie Williams, from the Edinburgh Sleep Centre, said: "It's a vicious circle, although adults may fret about their job and have financial worries they cannot afford to sacrifice their sleep quota. "Having sleepless nights on a long term basis can be very detrimental on your health and it will affect your productivity and overall well being." The Great British Sleep Survey recently found that a third of British adults suffer from insomnia, reported the Scotsman. Looking to win a bed? Don't miss your chance and enter our prize draw now!
