Can't afford a holiday? Why not turn your garden into a Mediterranean paradise?
27/07/2010
The recession might be over but many people are still feeling the financial pinch. If you're not planning a holiday, you could always try turning your garden into a Mediterranean paradise.Charlotte Rowe, who is a member of the Society of Garden Designers, said more and more people are using Mediterranean style plants in their garden as a result of Britain's drier weather. "They are better at coping with some of these drier hot summers and you can't keep watering the garden so that is quite important," she said. And, by creating a great outdoor space, you'll be doing a good job at keeping up with the latest trends. In fact, new research from Sadolin found that the garden has become one of the most important areas in the home, with 20 per cent of people considering the kitchen and bedroom less important than their garden, while 12 per cent consider the living room less important.
