Despite the frost and snow, a host of daffodils have bloomed in the village of Brixton in Devon more than a month early, according to reports.
The yellow flowers, which are usually associated with Easter, were discovered by local girl Jess Vosper.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, the 15-year-old said she found the blossoming flowers near her house while out for a walk on New Year's Day.
"I can't believe there are daffodils out already. It certainly doesn't feel like spring has sprung with all the snow and ice we've been having," she said.
"It's absolutely freezing, but the sight of these beautiful flowers really warms the heart," she added.
Last month, the Huddersfield Daily Examiner reported that snowdrops were spotted in a local resident's garden, with the first flower opening on November 28th.
Writing for the newspaper, Graham Porter, said the "peculiar autumn weather" in 2009 has meant that "many plants are not behaving as they should".
