Grow your own show postponedThe recession has forced organisers of the Edible Garden Show to postpone the event this year, it has been announced.

According to the organisers of the show, "the painfully slow recovery from recession" prompted them to postpone this year's exhibition.

The show was to be Britain's first grow your own show and was targeted to reflect the increased interest among the public for home-grown produce.

It will now take place between March 18th and 20th 2011, the organisers said.

Exhibition organiser Brian Wiseman said: "Our concept has been well received and it has been widely recognised that, in the Edible Garden Show, we have a recipe for an exciting and innovative new national event."

He added: "Unfortunately, the speed of the economic recovery has been far slower in the UK than in many other nations."

According to the Royal Horticulture Society, people who grow their own need to start preparing soil and clearing away old crops this month.
