29/12/2009
A new advertising campaign from the Home Office has been launched which offers advice on avoiding making home insurance claims. The marketing drive will run for eight weeks on television, radio and the internet and includes avoiding becoming than a victim of burglary. Not leaving car keys, bank statements, laptops and other valuables on display are key themes of the campaign, as well as the dangers of leaving doors and windows open. Michael Fraser, a former thief turned crime prevention expert, said: "Burglars are opportunists and by doing the simple things you can easily protect your home from them. "The best advice is the simplest advice; don't advertise your belongings to thieves." The Home Office will also issue anti-burglary posters that will be displayed in train stations, shopping centres and bus stops. According to Axa, people should also take care to avoid suffering from burst pipes during the cold weather. Upgrade your lifestyle with our latest home improvement offers.
