31/12/2009

Home improvement trends for 2010Interior design trends will increasingly revolve around the 'staying in is the new going out' motto, it has been claimed.

Speaking to The Independent, LaLiminata.co.uk claimed the UK recession and ongoing global downturn has encouraged many people to stay at home and find the best home improvement offers. The result being that DIY decor and furnishings have become far more important to British homeowners.

The firm also outlined a number of design staples for 2010.

"We will see the return of style with comfort, think Chesterfield wingback chairs, cosy textiles, shag-pile carpets; all creating a serene and comforting living environment," the company told the news provider.

The company also pointed out that eco-friendly interior design has become more accepted and is no longer viewed as an "un-stylish alternative".

Looking at the hot home furnishing trends of the past decade, Crown claimed that the defining paint colour of the noughties was Chocolate Comtesse – which can pin its success on the rise in popularity of feature walls and wooden flooring.
