Painting a room is a home improvement bargain
12/04/2010
People looking for easy home improvements which can make their house more stylish should consider painting rooms, it has been suggested. According to David Shepherd, brand manager at Dulux, complementing plain shades of paint inside the home with areas of colourful tones is in vogue at present. He said: "At the moment we have a bit of a neutrals bias, with lots of whites and creams being top of our list." Speaking at The Gadget Show Live 2010, he advised that the best way to avoid a room looking monotonous was to "throw in a bit of dynamism and personality in there", recommending using colours such as Raspberry Diva or Muddy Puddle with white walls. "When consumers use these bright colours they are tending to do so in a gesture of making a statement, like painting a living room chimney breast. This will be in a really rich colour, while the rest of the room will be pretty neutral." According to the Crown Colour Trend 2010, touches of lilac and violet will also be popular this year.
