Shane McGowan to star in gardening programme

Pogues star Shane McGowan is set to star in a new gardening show alongside his wife, according to reports.

Online news provider Spinner states that the Fairytale of New York singer will appear in Victoria and Shane Grow Their Own, a documentary charting the couple's efforts to grow their own vegetables.

It adds that the couple's efforts were inspired by US first lady Michelle Obama, who has her own allotment area at the White House.

The show will air in Ireland this December and sees Victoria aiming to grow enough food for them to live off as well as planning a party using their harvest for refreshments.

There are currently no plans to show the documentary in the UK.

Last month, it was reported that guest chef Marcus Samuelsson used herbs from the White House garden when cooking a meal for Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh who was visiting the US.
