Start working on garden, says TV gardener
27/01/2010
In spite of the cold weather, people should begin to work on their gardens, a TV gardener has claimed.Appearing on STV, The Hour gardener Pete Jackson said the damage caused by the recent heavy snow can be seen on plants. In order to add more life to their garden, people should consider planting Hellebore this month, he said. Mr Jackson noted that the plant can add a splash of colour to winter gardens, adding that gardeners should consider planting other seasonal plants such as snowdrops and hyacinth as well. "When there is not a fat lot happening in the gardening close, these are the heroes that are going to come through, he pointed out. "If you are planting in containers, use some horticultural grit, mix it in with the compost to allow the water to get away so it saves the plant getting waterlogged," he added. Last year, the garden expert warned people against over-watering their plants. Make the most of your garden with our gardening deals ![]() |
