Stuck for gardening ideas? Hit your public park
13/07/2010
If your garden currently features 1970s gravel or an over-the-top water feature circa 1995 you're not alone. Recent research from Ronseal found that one in ten Brits admit that they rarely update their garden, meaning that outdoor spaces are currently full of crazy paving from the 1970s or sculpture from the 1990s.In fact, nearly half of the 2,000 people questioned spend less than £100 per year updating their garden, but will spend on average £982 annually on redecorating and updating their home's interiors. Who can blame them though? If it's a rainy year, we rarely get a chance to spend that much time in our home's green spaces. And if you're stuck instead, it makes sense to create a nice living room, right? Still, if you're looking for a garden project but are struggling to find motivation, it might be time to head to a public park or garden, according to green expert Michelle Wake. "England has got some of the most beautiful gardens in the world, so there really is no excuse for lacking in inspiration – there are always some really beautiful gardens which are open to the public which you can go and visit," the garden designer said. But, before you make a move on your garden, don't forget to get rid of any really old-fashioned looking ornaments or pots that are past their sell-by-date.
