Technology has damaged gardening, says Alan TitchmarshOur modern world of instant technology has left people scared of gardening, television presenter Alan Titchmarsh has claimed.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, the green-fingered expert said that people no longer have the patience to wait for something to grow, adding that Brits have become frightened of battling the elements.

"We have lost the skills of gardening that were always in us. It has been overlaid with years of sophistication and technology because we do not need it anymore, we can press a button instead," he lamented.

"The problem is nowadays people have become mistrustful of [the earth] yet when you rely on instinct it does not let you down," he noted.

The 60-year-old added that gardening skills can make people "sexy", noting that people appreciated skills.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the former Gardeners' World host is return to BBC, with a show called Alan's Garden Secrets.
