25/05/2010
A few bargains can turn a paved garden into a green oasis, it has been suggested. According to a Ronseal spokesperson, investing in a few containers can make your garden instantly greener. She advised opting for sturdy, hardy perennials like hardy buxus, choisya 'aztec pearl' and dwarf rhododendron, ivy, bay or small conifers. "This will provide you with a green base and you can then judge what kind of conditions you've got to work with and what level of plant life you want to go for. "By putting in robust evergreen hardy plants you can create protected pockets for the more delicate ones," she noted. The home improvements expert added that the style of the containers is important and advised choosing chunky wooden planters. "Make sure they are sturdy enough not to get blown around, while also ensuring they have adequate drainage," she said.
