Time running out for scrappage deal
01/09/2009
Motorists are running out of time to save some money with the government's car scrappage scheme, according to motors.co.uk.The leading used car website said with the new 59 number plate launching today (September 1st), drivers should take advantage of the £2,000 bonus scheme "before its too late". Katie Armitage, marketing manager at Motors.co.uk, said: "The scrappage scheme has seen an uplift in new car sales, in fact July saw a rise in new car sales for the first time in over a year. She added that with the new plate being introduced and limited scrappage funds available, there has never been a better time to search for a new car online. According to motors.co.uk 155,000 people have already taken advantage of the £300 million programme, with funds set to run out as early as October this year. The scheme was announced earlier this year by chancellor Alistair Darling as he announced his annual budget in parliament.
