Cruises 'offer' good method of exploring Alaska
04/02/2010
People who are planning to go to Alaska should consider taking a cruise, it has been claimed. According to Jacqi Todd, UK representative for the Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA), cruises offer a good way to explore parts of the country but she warns that people should also take other methods of transport in order to see all the sights. "You might cruise up the inside package where you will get a view of the coastline and the glaciers but to really experience the full force of a glacier you would have to get up into the air," she noted. She added that on big cruise ships "you'll get lovely views of the coastline". Many people "get off the seven night cruise and then they'll take a one day boat excursion on a small ferry or excursion boat that will take them right up close to the glaciers and see all the wildlife and really identify with it", she advised. According to travelsupermarket.com, Brits are being more cautious with their holiday spending. The company says research shows that the average spending money per person per week dropped from £312 to £295 over the last two quarters. If you're looking to win a cruise, enter our prize draw now!
