Cruises 'offering more to families'

20/05/2010

Cruises 'offering more to families'Families looking for a budget holiday should keep their eyes peeled for cruise deals, it has been suggested.

According to Melissa Paloti, managing editor of Cruise Critic, cruises are increasingly offering the solution to families' annual holiday needs.

"With ever-expanding kids' programmes, rock-climbing walls, bowling alleys, the latest video games and even teens-only discos, cruises are definitely becoming more and more family-friendly," she noted.

Taking to sea for a week or two offers families an affordable vacation option, she added.

"Cruises are so popular with families because of the flexibility they offer; you can spend as much or as little time together as you like, with kids clubs even open on port days.

"Plus, with so many meals and onboard activities included in your base fare, cruises can be a great budget option."

Earlier this week, the Passenger Shipping Association said about 75,000 children from the UK would go on a cruise holiday this year – seven times the figure for ten years ago.
