Cruises offer 'value for money'

12/01/2010

Cruises offer 'value for money'"Cruising is not only a unique and exciting vacation experience but it offers tremendous value," Carnival Cruise Lines has said.

Jennifer de la Cruz, spokesperson for Carnival Cruise Lines, said value for money will be a key factor for people choosing holidays this year.

"In that category, cruising wins hands down based on its largely all-inclusive nature and quality provided," she noted.

Her claims come after a report from CruiseCritic.co.uk suggested that cruise liners stayed buoyant in 2009 due to slashed prices. The website added that it believes cruise companies will continue to offer lower prices this year.

Carolyn Spencer Brown, editor-in-chief of Cruise Critic, said: "Prices won't stay low forever, but the perks should remain as the competition to fill cabins continues. Look out for a host of new ships, more celebs at sea and the demise of controversial tipping policies."

The Passenger Shipping Association predicts a record 1.65 million UK passengers will choose a cruise in 2010, an increase of 6.5 per cent on 2009.
