Eastern Europe 'offers the best of both worlds'

11/01/2010

Eastern Europe 'offers the best of both worlds'Eastern European destinations have shown an increase in popularity despite the recession, according to Cheapflights.co.uk.

Francesca Ecsery, global sales director from the website, said these countries "offer the best of both worlds".

"Culture-rich Latvia and Estonia offer an abundance of striking, centuries-old architecture and picturesque coastlines," she added.

"These unique experiences, combined with relatively low ground costs and the knowledge that your hard-earned cash is bolstering an economy in need, have helped put these cities on top of Britain's 'to do' list," she noted.

The travel websites hot list for 2010 includes Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Singapore, Venezuela, Jamaica, Ireland, Ukraine and the Seychelles.

Ms Ecsery added that many of these countries offer favourable exchange rates with the UK and that flights are "relatively inexpensive".

Last week, Simonseeks.com reported that more than half of those who holidayed in the UK last year plan to travel abroad in 2010.
