Follow Caribbean locals for 'authentic treat'

19/02/2010

Follow Caribbean locals for 'authentic treat'Following locals will help holidaymakers have a real Caribbean experience, it has been claimed.

According to Nadine Hallak, spokesperson for Cheapflights.co.uk, by asking locals for tips on where to shop and eat, British holidaymakers will be in for an "authentic treat".

She added: "The joy of the Caribbean is the relaxation offered by its natural beauty and permeated in the island attitude – by planning, you'll minimise any unnecessary stress and ensure you enjoy the area."

Brits can still get cheap flights to the islands if they are flexible and plan ahead, she added.

According to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, it expects a three per cent increase in visitors to the islands this year, after tourism numbers increased by one per cent in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Holiday visits abroad by UK residents dropped 16 per cent in 2009, new figures from Office for National Statistics have revealed.
