Ask a group of people why they choose their holiday destination and you'll often get a wide variety of answers. Some will say sunshine was a key factor, while others want culture on their trips away. Then there are those who are looking for an adventure holiday and others who want nothing more than to sit under a beach umbrella reading the latest Dan Brown novel.But, regardless of whether you want a sunshine break or an adventure holiday, you'll have to eat on your trip away, which is why food is becoming an increasingly important factor in destination choices. If you're wondering where you'll get the best food in Europe this summer, look no further than Rome. According to TripAdvisor's third annual European Cities Survey, Rome is the best destination for cuisine. It's also been ranked as the most attractive European city. Anyone who is lucky enough to be heading to the Italian capital this summer should make their way to Trastevere, Testaccio and the Roman Ghetto Area, where you'll find plenty of great restaurant options, according to Stefania Gatta, spokesperson at the Italian State Tourist Board. Some of the dishes that Ms Gatta said people should try included gnocchi alla Romana (semolina dumplings with tomato sauce), carciofi alla giudia (artichokes Jewish style) and deep fried salt cod fillets.
