Jamaica looks set to be one of the most affordable long haul destinations in 2010, the Post Office has said.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Services, made the comments ahead of the publication of its living costs comparison barometer, which is due to be released this week.
According to Ms Munro, the cost for eight tourists' staples, including meals and drinks, was cheaper in Jamaica than the other Caribbean Islands, while sterling has also been strengthening against the Jamaican dollar, helping to keep holiday costs down.
"We found prices to be 15 per cent lower in Jamaica than in St Lucia, the most expensive Caribbean Island surveyed," she added.
The exchange rate on January 15th stood at one pound sterling to 155.604 Jamaican dollars.
Her comments came days after Jamaica's minister of tourism, Edmund Bartlett, announced that he expected tourism to the island to increase by six per cent this year.
