Visitors to Japan will be able to enjoy a truly unique and memorable destination thanks to the blend of old and new found in the country, a tourism organisation has said.
According to Koichiro Yoshida, executive director at the London office of the Japan National Tourism Organization, the country offers ancient temples, gardens and cultural traditions, as well as some of the "world's most futuristic and technologically advanced cities".
Last month, Japan featured in a list of the top ten honeymoon destinations compiled by sunshine.co.uk.
Mr Yoshida noted: "Honeymooners are invariably after a trip of a lifetime which makes Japan a very strong draw."
He added that the most popular places for a romantic getaway in Japan are Tokyo, Okinawa and Mount Fuji. Kyoto is also popular for its "old-world romanticism - Zen gardens, ancient temples, geisha and historic inns", he noted.
The American cities of New York and Las Vegas also featured on sunshine.co.uk's list of top places for a honeymoon.
