Pensions deficits 'the result of increased life expectancy'
Solar panels 'mean homeowners have everything to gain'
Lisbon 'has something for all budgets'
16/07/2010
Few people can resist a true bargain. Even though the recession is officially over, most people are still looking for good value options when it comes to their choosing a holiday destination this summer. While long-haul destinations, like Thailand, often offer great value for money when you get there, the cost of the flight can make them an expensive option. Anyway, who needs a nine hour flight when you can just hop on a short flight to a cheap European destination? This year Lisbon has been voted the best value European city, closely followed by Prague and Istanbul, in TripAdvisor's third annual European Cities Survey. It's possible to get the best out of Lisbon "whatever your budget is", according to Paula Oliveira, director of the Lisbon Tourism Office. Not only are there cheap bed and breakfast options, you'll also find five star hotels if you want to splash out, she noted. "There are also several options for eating out, from inexpensive to very expensive." Another trick to ensure your euros last longer in the Portuguese capital is to invest in the Lisbon Card, which "gives you free access to all national and municipal museums and monuments, and all local transport including trains to Sintra and Cascais". Now all that is required is some cheap flights! Don't miss out on the best offers and prizes and visit our travel deals page today! Posted by Carla Spuri ![]() |
