Long Island's Coopers Beach named America's top beach

People lucky enough to have cheap flights to America should consider heading to Long Island, where Coopers Beach has been named as the best seashore in the US. According to the 20th Annual Top Ten Beaches, which is produced by coastal expert Dr Stephen P Leatherman, director of Florida International University's Laboratory for Coastal Research, Coopers Beach is the best coastal location in the US. Some 50 criteria are used to evaluate beaches, including water and sand quality, as well as safety and environmental management. "While Long Islanders have always known and appreciated the quality of our beaches, it's particularly gratifying to be recognised as having the number one beach in the country by no less [of] an authority than Dr. Stephen Leatherman,” said Moke McGowan, president of the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau (LICVB). "Both Main and Coopers Beaches have been recognized in the past as being among the top ten beaches in the country - and to now hold the top spot is especially significant when you consider the quality of the company we're in." Coopers, located on the east end of Long Island, in the main beach in the village of Southampton. Other beaches in the top ten included Siesta Beach in Sarasota, Florida, Coronado in San Diego, California and Hamoa Beach in Maui, Hawaii. For free flights to America, enter our prize draw now!
