New York gears up for a summer of festivals

Holidaymakers who have been lucky enough to bag cheap flights to New York this summer will find that there are plenty of festivals taking place, according to NYC & Company. Anna Catchpole, UK PR manager at the official tourism body for the US state, said some "amazing events and festivals" are taking place in New York this summer. Central Park will host a number of outdoor concerts, while there will also be music events at the Water Taxi Beaches. Movie fans should head to Brooklyn, where an outdoor film festival is taking place. "For fans of classical music and opera, the New York Philharmonic's Concerts in the Parks and the Metropolitan Opera's Summer Recital Series provide free shows in outdoor venues throughout the five boroughs. "One must-see event this year is the Shakespeare in the Park series in Central Park." Ms Catchpole added. Recently, New York was named as one of the most popular summer destinations by Skyscanner.
