Rail holidays 'are less stressful'
22/06/2010
Opting for a rail holiday can often be a less stressful option, according to Richard Adams, marketing manager at Great Rail Journeys.Mr Adams noted: "Holidaying by rail means that the journey is a key part of the experience the journey is just the start of the adventure and not just a means of getting there." Rail holidays also seem to be growing in popularity, with Great Rail Journeys recently reporting a surge of summer bookings, up by 48 per cent from May last year. The company said travellers who are worried about ash cloud disruption and airline strikes are turning to rail holidays. "With carefully chosen timings, routes and trains there is nothing more civilised than travelling to your holiday destination, or touring around, by rail. "It's less stressful, more enjoyable and kinder to the environment and we're seeing more enquiries from people considering this sort of holiday for the first time," added Mr Adams.
