Rail holidays in Canada 'excellent for seeing scenery'
26/04/2010
Travelling by train across Canada is an expedition in itself rather than just a method of transportation, VIA Rail Canada has said. According to Josephine Wasch, senior manager of international sales at VIA Rail Canada, rail holidays are a great way to discover Canada as it is such a big country. The advantage of taking a train is that "you get to relax and see the scenery from out of your window", she stated, adding that it's possible to take a rail holiday at any time of the year. Ms Wasch said: "It really doesn't matter what time of year you travel, the scenery is still so amazing. Each [area] has its own charm with the different seasons that we go through." She added that people can choose journeys through the Canadian Rockies, priories and lakes, as well as visiting small communities and towns, where it is possible to get off and spend a time seeing how Canadians live throughout the various regions. Earlier this month, the Canadian Tourism Commission said it has experience a 100 per cent increase in traffic to their travel website since the Winter Olympics.
