Rio de Janeiro is one of the top ten places to celebrate New Year's Eve, according to sunshine.co.uk.
Other destinations which made the list include London, Paris, Sydney, Cape Town and New York.
Speaking about Rio's New Year's celebrations, Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, said it would be "a tremendous amount of fun".
"It's probably somewhere where it's a little easier to join in the party than in other cities where you can sometimes be on the outside looking in," he added.
Mr Hall said that for those travelling to Rio for New Year's Eve "can expect a warm welcome and lots of crowds out on the street".
What gave Rio the edge for seeing in 2010, Mr Hall explained, was that you needn't worry about the cold or what to do on New Year's Day, "because you can just hit the beach".
According to the International Air Transport Association figures, Latin American carriers saw significant increases in the demand for air travel in October, growing nine per cent compared to 3.4 per cent in September.
