Think a gap year is for students? Think again!
28/07/2010
Many people will know at least one young person who took a gap year before starting university or when they had finished their education. With an over-flowing backpack and a Lonely Planet guide in their hand, these young people headed off to stay in hostels in far flung places around the world. But, it's not just students who are heading on around the world trips, according to Brett Warbrick, group marketing and product director at Round the World Experts. "We're now seeing young professionals taking extended career breaks, or even couples whose children have flown the roost taking the opportunity to see the world," he said. The travel experts recently launched the perfect round the world itinerary for backpacking in style on a tight budget, which includes stops at some of the most popular destinations in upmarket but affordable hostel accommodation. Mr Warbrick added: "For some people, backpacking is all about escaping normal life and getting back to basics, but for those who want the backpacking experience without losing their creature comforts there are lots of options."
