Visitors to Virginia 'will find many beautiful small towns'
21/05/2010
Holidaymakers who are planning a trip to the US should consider looking out for flight deals to Washington Dulles International Airport, located in Virginia, it has been suggested.Diane Bechamps, vice president of marketing for the Virginia Tourism Corporation and chair of Capital Region USA, said from the airport it is possible to rent a car and explore Virginia's "many scenic byways and the beauty of our small towns and lush landscapes". Another good option is to take a taxi to a nearby Virginia train station and take "the Amtrak Virginia to Alexandria, Fairfax, Culpeper Charlottesville and Lynchburg - western route - or Fredericksburg Richmond and Williamsburg - southern route", she noted. Ms Bechamps added that other attractions worth visiting include the Luray Caverns, the Crooked Road Music Heritage Trail and Northern Neck. Food and drink lovers should consider making their way to one of the state's 150 wineries. Earlier this week, it was announced that the number of international travellers visiting the US state increased by 16 per cent during 2009, despite the recession. ![]() |
