Word reaches us at Active You that some of the UK’s leading retailers have come together to launch the 'The Home & Garden Club'.
Targeting customers who’re feeling the pinch during the economic downturn, the Club is aimed at individuals who are more intent towards making home improvements rather than moving homes. The top retailers comprising the Home & Garden Club include Debenhams, B&Q, Waterstones, Blockbuster, PC World and Thorntons.
The Club offers members a range of exclusive offers and discounts, across the four major Home & Garden categories – Furniture & Furnishings, Everyday Living, Leisure and Electricals. You can actually save up to 60% on a wide range of brands. The discounts include 20% off at Laura Ashley, 20% off at HSS Hire, 15 % off at C&H Fabrics etc.
That’s not all... In addition to all the Club’s offers and discounts, the Annual Members will also receive 6 special free gifts, including
· free garden makeover consultation,
· free interior design consultation,
· 2-4-1 entry to Britain’s most beautiful gardens (with unlimited free hotel accommodation),
· free print to canvas,
· free Britain’s best gardens DVD
Andy Huggins, Managing Director of The Rocket Marketing Group says, “This new club is packed with great offers. The Home & Garden Club helps consumers to maintain or create a perfect haven at home, whatever their budget.”
It’s a good attempt to give consumers more value and more choice at competitive prices. Our only reservation is that it costs £39.99 a year so you have to spend a tidy sum before any benefits kick-in. Also, just like the nectar card, there’s a limit to how many brands and stores are participating in the scheme.
Our thoughts? Garden Bargains still has the best value plants in the UK, Selfridges the best home furnishings and feather & black’s the best beds. We’ve yet to be convinced otherwise. What’s more you don’t have to pay a fee to enjoy their discounts. Why go anywhere else?
